Home schooling

This picture was taken in 2007 of the children.

We have been home schooling our children since 1994. We have had many different positive experiences during this time. We have watched the children mature in their relationship with God and watched the children excel academically.  When our daughter attended the Indiana Home School Graduation at the Convention Center in Indianapolis.  The tears filled our eyes as my husband handed her diploma to her. Both of our daughters are in college.  Rachael is a professor of Microbiology at Ivy Tech State College.  She has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University School of Science.  Rebekah is in her third year of undergraduate studies at Indiana University.  She will be pursuing a nursing degree.  Isaac is in the sixth grade at Maconaquah Middle school while playing several sports including football, basketball, baseball, and archery.  None of the children are home schooled now.  Both the girls graduated from home school, but Isaac is very active in sports so he decided to begin public school.  It has been an easy transition for him.  He was captain of the football team this year and received the citizenship award.

The children have been involved in many different social outlets. We belong to a wonderful church that offers many different programs for the children. The children are also involved in 4H, FFA, and our local home school group, KASH (Kokomo Area School at Home).

http://www.kashnews.org/  KASH offers several different opportunities for the children.  The children took gym class with the KASH group.  KASH offers science labs, writing classes, foreign language classes, gym classes, and sports.  These are just a small portion of the opportunities from KASH.  We also receive a monthly newsletter from the group.

We also use the dual credit program at our local college.  The children when they are Juniors in high school can enroll in this program.  Rachael graduated high school and had finished 20 credit hours in college work.  She also received the Miami County 4H scholarship for college and the I DARE YOU award.

We have found some curriculum that we consider outstanding. Mainly the science curriculum that we use is from Apologia Educational Ministries. This link offers several other links that you might find of interest.
